Exercise B

Reading: Job Ads & Workplace Notices

Read the texts below, then answer the questions — just like Reading Parts 1 and 2 in the real MSA exam.

Part 1 — Match the Applicant to the Job

Barista Wanted: Make coffee and chat with regular customers. Friendly personality essential — you'll be at the counter all shift.

Kitchen Porter Wanted: Wash dishes and keep the kitchen clean. Quiet, behind-the-scenes role — little contact with customers.

Waiter/Waitress Wanted: Take orders, carry plates, and serve tables. Good memory and a calm attitude under pressure needed.

Delivery Cyclist Wanted: Deliver orders around town by bike. Must enjoy being outdoors in all weather.

1 Aisha loves talking to people and making drinks. She should apply for the role.

2 Noah is shy and prefers working alone, away from customers. He should apply for the role.

3 Leon has a great memory and stays calm even when it's busy. He should apply for the role.

4 Mia loves being outside and cycling, whatever the weather. She should apply for the role.

Part 2 — Workplace Notices: True or False?

🧼 Staff must wash their hands at least every thirty minutes during a shift.

📵 Phones are not allowed on the shop floor, but may be used in the staff room.

🍽️ Free staff meals are provided for anyone working a shift longer than six hours.

👕 The dress code is all black clothing, with closed-toe shoes.

5 Staff never need to wash their hands during a shift.

6 Phones may be used in the staff room.

7 Every staff member gets a free meal on every shift, no matter how short.

8 Open-toe shoes are allowed under the dress code.

Exercise C
