Exercise A

Questions for a new classmate

A new classmate sends you a message. Choose the correct words to complete each question.

Before you start — optional, not marked
This is just to get you thinking. You can leave it empty and it does not count towards your score.
Hi! Nice to meet you in class.

1. Where 1 from?

2. What 2 at university?

3. How long 3 in Germany?

4. 4 English at work?

5. What 5 you to this course?

6. Can you tell me what 6?

Exercise B

Introduce yourself to the class

Your teacher and your new classmates will read this before Thursday's class. Write 120–150 words about yourself.

Include these four things
  • What you are studying, and why
  • Where you have lived
  • When and why you need English
  • One goal for this course

Use the present simple for facts (I study…), the present perfect for your life so far (I have lived in…) and want to or would like to for your goal.

Word count: 0 (aim for 120–150)
